There’s something timeless and wildly romantic about a Texas wedding, especially when it blends classic elegance with bold western charm. Mattie and Matt’s wedding near Houston, Texas was exactly that—an unforgettable celebration full of love, laughter, and one epic lake jump at the end that no one will forget.
Set on a gorgeous private property barn venue, Hummingbird Hill, just outside of Houston, the couple said “I do” beneath a canopy of oak trees with golden sunlight pouring in—an ethereal setting that looked straight out of a country song. Mattie was a vision in a lace-detailed gown with boots peeking out beneath the hem, while Matt wore a custom suit paired with his signature cowboy hat. The bridal party followed suit—the ladies in turquoise jewelry and every shade of purple gowns, and the gentlemen in neutral sport coats -- all the western flair you could dream of.
WESTERN WEDDING DETAILS
The wedding details from this classy, western wedding were truly a dream. All of the turquoise and sterling silver you could imagine, custom wedding stationary, and their cattle brand on custom made drop earrings, a tooled leather hat band and garter, there was no detail that wasn't worth noting.

As guests arrived, they were welcomed by an isle covered in cowhides and a view of rolling pastures behind the ceremony arch. The vows were personal and emotional—Mattie’s voice breaking as she spoke about building a life rooted in faith, laughter, and front porch sunsets. Matt wiped away tears before pulling her in close for that first kiss as husband and wife. There truly wasn't a dry eye around.

The Ceremony: Elegant, Intimate, and Full of Heart

The Reception: A True Texas Celebration
When the sun dipped behind the trees, the energy shifted—and the real party began.
String lights twinkled over a rustic barn reception filled with clinking glasses, two-stepping, and all the best country music. Mattie and Matt kicked off the night with a first dance that was perfectly interrupted by their baby boy, followed by a full-on dance floor that didn’t slow down for hours. Boots hit the wood floor hard, laughter echoed out into the countryside, and the DJ kept the party going well past midnight.
Guests sipped sweet tea and whiskey, toasted under the Texas sky, and celebrated the newlyweds with all the joy and rowdiness you'd expect from a Southern reception done right.
The Grand Finale: A Jump into Forever
Just when everyone thought the night couldn’t get better, the entire wedding party—yes, dresses and dress shirts included—ran hand-in-hand down the dock and jumped into the lake. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day: spontaneous, bold, joyful, and a little bit wild. (And would you believe it if I said there was a tiny boat involved in order to get those photos?) The kind of moment that captures the heart of what weddings are really about—celebrating love fully, unapologetically, and with your whole heart (and maybe a splash).
